Diana's Incredible Journey - A Teen's Quest for Honor
Diana removes the outer wrapping of the only unopened gift she received on her birthday. She is amazed to see that a beautifully engraved leather box encloses the gift. There is an inscription on the box. Diana reads it aloud in a hushed whisper.
“Honesty is the First Chapter in the Book of Honor ~ James Hall 1637.”
The light on her bedside lamp abruptly dims. Then a chilly breeze rushes into the bedroom. Amazingly, the window’s curtains sway slightly with the unexplained breeze. Diana begins to shiver a little. Pulling the blanket around her neck, she takes a deep breath. Her heart is racing as she slowly opens the box.
Diana inhales with bated breath when she sees what the box contains. It is a lovely adjustable black string necklace. Dangling from the necklace is tiny lightning bolt metal charm of a dark blue color. A small circular medallion with the letter "D" in calligraphy is attached to the charm’s clasp.
Diana thinks she may be imagining it; however, the charm seems to glow ever so slightly as it rests on silky fabric the color of a delicately soft white.
"Goodness, Charles," Diana types on her phone. "The necklace and charm are very pretty. But what does all of this have to with me?" She closes the box to look at its inscription. "Who is James Hall? Also, is 1637 a date?"
"James is my brother. And yes, 1637 is a date."
